Merseyside cancer support charity Liverpool Sunflowers is launching a new yoga class, starting on Tuesday April 21.
Run by a qualified instructor, this new weekly yoga session will be held at 11.00-12.00 at the Sunflowers Centre on Aigburth Road, and is suitable for all abilities including complete beginners.
The class is just one of a range of free, weekly activity groups, and classes which are on offer at Liverpool Sunflowers to help improve both the physical health and emotional wellbeing of those affected by a cancer diagnosis, including cancers patients, survivors, carers or relatives.
Joan Elmer, Chief Executive of Liverpool Sunflowers, explained: “At Liverpool Sunflowers, we offer a number of different weekly activity groups that are free to access for those living with a cancer diagnosis, their partners, family members, friends and supporters.
“We find that taking part in regular, gentle physical activity such as a yoga class can be really beneficial for those currently undergoing cancer treatment or in various stages of recovery, as it strengthens the body, encourages relaxation, and promotes a positive state of mind – all of which are vitally important in the fight against cancer.
Other free activity groups currently on offer at Liverpool Sunflowers Centre include the following:
Weekly Art Therapy Class – Runs Wednesday mornings (10.30–12.30)
Weekly Crafts Class – Runs Tuesday afternoons between (14.00–16.00)
Weekly Tai Chi Class – Runs Thursday mornings (11.00-12.00)
For more information or to attend a class, please call Joan Elmer or Emma Squibb at Liverpool Sunflowers on 0151 726 8934, or you can just turn up on the day.
