Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust honours staff

Liverpool Community Health (LCH) NHS Trust staff were honoured for their hard work and achievements over the last year at the Trust’s sixth annual Staff Awards ceremony.

Over 300 staff and special guests attended the ‘Local Heroes’ themed awards evening on Friday 19th June at the city’s St George’s Hall.

BBC Radio Merseyside presenter and community figure head Roger Phillips, led the celebrations which recognised the achievements of staff across a variety of award categories including the Trust’s five organisation values: Care, Community, Courage, Collaboration and Commitment.

Selected from amongst 3,000 staff who work at LCH, a total of 14 Awards were presented during the night to exceptional individuals and teams.

Amongst those recognised during the evening were the Community Intermediate Care and Urgent Care Sefton Service, who deliver services 365 days a year to vulnerable citizens won the Award for Care.

Also, the Anticoagulation Service who have enabled over 4000 patients to have their treatment and care closer to home were presented with the Award for Community by Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Roz Gladden.

The Trust also gave a special tribute to its community volunteers, awarding Gary Thomas, with the title of Volunteer of the Year for his on -going commitment and support to Liveability, a nurse-led service which supports older people to keep active and reduce the risk of falls.

The Trust’s Deputy Chief Executive, Gary Andrews also honoured 17 members of staff, with the Trust’s Long Service Award recognising their dedication in providing over 40 years of service to the NHS.

Commenting on the evening, Deputy Chief Executive of LCH, Gary Andrews, said: “We are incredibly proud of our staff and the treatment and care they provide to patients across Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley. The awards are an important way of recognising the significant contribution that LCH staff makes to the community. Despite the backdrop of an increasingly challenging NHS environment, our staff show great determination and commitment to their roles, and we were delighted to be able to recognise some of their outstanding achievements from over the past 12 months.”

• Employee of the Year – Angela Fox, Team Leader and Christine Beltran, Physiotherapist (Joint winners)
• Leader of the Year – Ian senior, Mobilisation Manager, Siobhan Galloway & Margaret Alderman, Clinical Leads, Community Physiotherapy Service (Joint winners)
• Chair’s Award for Health and Well-being – Treatment Rooms Service
• Volunteer of the Year – Gary Thomas, Liveability Service Volunteer
• Award for Equality and Diversity – Sylwia Parr, Health Link Worker
• Award for Quality – Specialist Palliative Care Team
• Team of the Year – Rehab at Home
